It was Halloween!
Growing up in India, Halloween was something I never knew about let alone celebrate. The closest I even came to dressing up stopped at a school play or at most at a fancy dress competition - and last I remember doing either of those two things was a long long time ago.
I first truly experienced Halloween about 4 year's back when I moved to Canada for school.
It was a school event and I dressed up as a fortune reader. Thus began my love affair with Halloween!! An event so unlike anything I have experience in the my own religion or culture.
While I am not much aware of the origins or the religious aspects underlying this event, typical festive Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, decorating, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, visiting haunted house attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories and watching horror films; all of which are extremely fun!!
This Oct 31st, I decided to host a Halloween party at my place. It was a great evening spent with wonderful friends who all participated with the much enjoyed enthusiasm!!
Being my first Halloween party, the internet served as an excellent source of inspiration and ideas, and I wanted to share some of them with you all here:
1.) Monster Face Door
2.) Flying Bats on the wall
3.) Crows on London map
4.) Candy Corn jello shots
Recipie here: http://www.abeautifulmess.com/2014/10/candy-corn-jello-shots.html
5.) Bat Flags and Ghost Lollies
6.) Danger sign on alcohol bottles
7.) Worm ice cubes
Simply breed worms in a ice tray with either water or your favorite juice and let them turn into ice cubes! Get creative by making the worms creep out of the ice cubes and pop them into any clear drink for a good squirm!
8.) Balloon faces
Just blow the balloons and draw with a sharpie!!
9.) Polaroid Wall
If you have or can borrow a polaroid camera, I would highly recommend this - makes the party a lot of fun!
10.) Beer pong and drinking games
11.) Sparklers
12.) Ringu playing on TV
Had the movie playing on TV in silence for a timely scare if you happen to look at the TV ... you know when.. ;)
